We've come a long way, baby!
In 1990, Kate Lynch put an ad in the local Bedford, PA paper proclaiming that she'd just opened a catering company. All through her childhood, she'd dreamt of throwing magnificent parties and serving food that would awe and delight her guests. Some called her "naive"... many said it was impossible. But at 20, Kate was just too young to be afraid.
The first official business call to "Kate's Katering" came from Westinghouse Corporation, now Bedford Materials. "You've done this before, right?" the client asked. Kate crossed her fingers before she answered - and soon was catering their annual company picnic. For the next 10 years, they remained a faithful customer to Kate's Katering.
Over those years, Kate grew a small, home-based business into a successful company that catered to four counties out of a large commercial kitchen. In 2001, Kate sold the company to The Casino at Lakemont Park and continued on with them for two more years, developing their off-premise catering division "Snappy Chef" before returning to complete her hospitality degree at Penn State University. Since then, her career and education in food and beverage have taken her all over the country and even Europe.
Finally settling in Corvallis, Oregon, Kate and her husband Howard call it the home of their hearts. Pairing the area she loves with the industry she has a true passion for is her heart's desire. She is delighted to share an abundance of great food and warm hospitality with the beautiful Willamette Valley as the owner of Forks and Corks Catering.
